CIX compliance for a safer internet

Srce continues to actively contribute to a safer Internet in such a way that the Croatian center for the exchange of Internet traffic, CIX, aligned with the recommendations of the Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS), the most important of which are the prevention of the spread of incorrect information in routing and the protection of the peering infrastructure.

To prevent the spread of incorrect routing information on route servers, CIX uses IRR (Internet Route Registry) and RPKI (Resource Public Key Infrastructure) validation, which was a missing requirement for compatibility with MANRS.

MANRS is a global initiative supported by the Global Cyber Alliance aimed at ensuring the stability and security of global Internet routing. Its main players are Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), cloud service providers, and equipment manufacturers.

To become a participant in the MANRS IXP program, one must demonstrate commitment to the implementation of most of the activities of the IXP program. CIX carries out all five activities: preventing the spread of incorrect information in routing, promoting MANRS to its members, protecting peering infrastructure, promoting operational communication and coordination between members, and providing tools for monitoring and analysis.

Croatian Internet eXchange (CIX) is a Croatian center for the exchange of Internet traffic founded and hosted in Srce in 2000. It is open to all Internet service providers in the Republic of Croatia, both for commercial and non-commercial, i.e. private networks. This year, CIX, together with its users, celebrates its 25th anniversary, and with these and all other improvements to the CIX infrastructure, we strive to be an important factor in the Internet in the Republic of Croatia for at least that many more years.
